Ferryhill Weather
|
Ferryhill has a climate which is typical of the Eastern side of Northern Britain. The annual
rainfall total is lower than expected at round about the 650 mm mark, this being due to the shelter afforded by the Pennines from
the prevailing Westerly winds. The North Sea also has a great influence on our weather, often producing stubborn fog along the
coast in spring/summer, but moderating any mid-winter easterly blasts or summer heatwaves. Temperatures have ranged from 32.5
degC in August 1990 down to -18.3 degC in February 1895 (extremes for Durham)
