CHILTON ELECTS IT'S YOUNGEST MAYOR
Chilton has a new Mayor and, at 35 years of age he is the youngest person ever to have been the town’s first citizen. Chilton Town Council members unanimously elected Victor Collinson as their Mayor for the coming year and last Tuesday night the out-going mayor, Cllr Lennie Potts, formally placed the Mayoral chain round his neck. Cllr Collinson is a single man and his mother Evelyn will be acting as his consort during his year of office. Cllr Collinson has also announced that he will be supporting St. Aidan’s Church in Chilton and the Red Cross as his Mayor charities. At 35 the new Mayor is the youngest person to hold office, either as Mayor, or Chairman of the local authority. Cllr Collinson is a keen bee keeper and enjoys going to the gym.
The Town Council also elected Mr. Brian Turner as the town Deputy Mayor for the forthcoming year. The out-going Mayor, Cllr Lennie Potts, told fellow councillors “I would like to thank everyone for their support during Christine and my year of office. It has been very busy and enjoyable - far busier than we thought it would be.” “I have to say, I’ve enjoyed every minute of it” he added.
