PICK YOUR LITTER UP CRY YOUNGSTERS - WITH MEGAPHONES!

A group of enthusiastic youngsters from Ferryhill’s Business and Enterprise College were in the Village last week, gently encouraging local residents to pick up their litter and to emphasise their point, they were using megaphones to get their message across. The four youngsters Liam Williams, Kallen Gibbons, Shane Bowmer and Ryan Sweetlove, were being helped in their clean-up campaign by the Borough’s Environmental Officer Andy Denham and Ferryhill’s Police Support Officer.

Mr. Denham was quick to remind residents caught depositing litter of the danger of receiving a £50 on the spot fine. On one occasion he stopped a woman getting on a bus, making her pick up the cigarette butt she had stamped out on the floor.
