The Ferryhill and Chilton Chapter Guestbook

I've come across your paper while researching family online.
I'd be glad to know more about West Street, Ferryhill as my mother was born there in 1917, the youngest daughter of Thomas and Bertha Taylor. Her name was Kitty Taylor. Her eldest sister, Minnie Taylor, briefly taught Kitty in a local school at Ferryhill. Minnie stayed a teacher all her life and never married. I believe the family moved from Ferryhill before Kitty turned 10 years old. She remembered the sound of explosions from 'The Cut' .

Admin reply: Bet you're missing the footie. Are you coming back or staying out there? I'm at my mam's, opposite your old house as I write this. Beautiful day here. Going for the bus to the Burnley game now, hope Abbsy has got his shirt on!

Looking for anyone who can remember Ronald Owens of Deans Road Ferryhill from 1970's/80's and Norman Cartwright Bute Street Stockton 1950's/70's. Trying to find out if they were miners or at least good mates!!. We have Ronald Owens as registering Norman's death in 1972 and wondering what the connection is!!. Norman was the last known family member on our Dad's side of the family.....very long story but would love to hear from anyone who might be able to at least giver us a lead!!. Many thanks in advance.

Admin reply: Hi, just seen your message. I know there's an Anne Owens who lives in Dean Road. She used to have a haberdashers shop in Ferryhill. If i remember rightly, her late husband was called Ronald. This might be who you are looking for. I'll get you her address and you can write to her.
